ME.
I'm Faz, I served as a Combat Medic in the British Army. I left in 2013 after being diagnosed with PTSD. After a few years of trying to battle my demons I attempted suicide In 2017. I was only stopped due to the quick reactions of a Police Armed Response Team.I realised at that point I had been given another chance really turn my life around and get the help I desperately needed. As part of my recovery, physically pushing myself as far as I can has helped me fight some demons.... The fight is daily, but I am now winning.
WHAT DO I WANT TO ACHIEVE?
I want to inspire military veterans struggling to cope with poor mental health, fighting demons and generally transitioning back into civilian life to engage with services that will help them. I want others to see that pushing yourself to your body's limits also helps mentally to overcome huge hurdles.
WHAT CHANGES AM I MAKING?
I am going to get outside more. I am going to prioritise my days so that each decision I make is beneficial to my health. I am going to eat better, train harder, spend my time with friends and family. I am also going to remember the brothers and sisters who didn't make it home from war
MY PLAN FOR 2019 AND BEYOND.
My plan for this 2019 is to increase the miles I am able to run and tab.
Mountain marathon
Mountain ultra
Black Sheep Marathon
50 miles
75 miles
100 miles
MY PERSONAL PROMISE.
I promise myself that I will always keep moving. In whatever that might be. I will never stop improving. I will always be there for others. I will be happy and make others happy. I will do this for those that are no longer with me. My brothers and sisters I served with.
