ME.
Transplanted Brit now living in the US on a mountain in Pennsylvania with seven dogs and two red heads (my wife Alissa and step-daughter, Zoey aka 'The Ginja Ninja').
In 2020 I made some life changing decisions: losing weight, quitting smoking, and finally admitting I had a problem with alcohol so I quit that too.
I started tabbing, working out and dieting at the start of October 2020 and by February 2021 had lost 51 pounds.
When I set my mind to something I see it through, but it's been a lonely trek and groups like Gone Tabbing have been a lifeline to keep up the motivation levels with some competition and mixing up the challenges.
WHAT DO I WANT TO ACHIEVE?
Physically, I want to get back to a 10-miler in 1 hour 45 with 35 pounds and enjoy the outdoors a lot more.
Mentally, I want to totally break out of the middle-aged funk of work, paying bills and life crapola and focus on my marriage, family and personal well-being a lot more than I ever have.
Generally, be a lot kinder and considerate than I have been and focus much more on helping others.
Life is too short.
WHAT CHANGES AM I MAKING?
Working out and tabbing are my #1 changes in my lifestyle that I have adopted.
I quit smoking and alcohol - I just asked myself if I was happier drinking or happier sober, and the answer is the latter.
MY PLAN FOR 2021 AND BEYOND.
#1 10 mile tab with 35 pound bergen in 1 hour 45 minutes
#2 drop my weight further to 13 and a half stones(190 pounds)
#3 Run Currahee at Taccoa, Georgia where the Band of Brothers and the 506th Parachute Infantry were formed and trained.
MY PERSONAL PROMISE.
I promise to be disciplined and train regularly, take this all seriously but with tongue firmly in cheek, and help and encourage those around me or who need it.
